Heading to SiriusDecisions 2014? Experience Orlando with the Locals
Heading to Orlando for SiriusDecisions this year and want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist-filled activities? With Orlando just a short 3-hour drive north of us in our home state of Florida, we thought we’d give you the Native’s Guide to Orlando and the chance to discover the city from a local’s view. We hope you check out some of these great attractions and delish food, but mostly we hope you will come visit with us in our booth — Mary, Anna, Susan and Jordan will be there with open arms to greet you.
When you’re not at the event, get out and enjoy your time in Florida. Orlando may be the number one tourist destination in the U.S. but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some hidden gems around the city. Outside the home of that mouse with the huge ears and the world of Harry Potter, Orlando definitely has some local and fun places to offer visitors.
Looking for some great music? Orlando is just the place.
House of Blues – Who hasn’t heard of House of Blues?! This famous spot is great for their live music and incredible food right in the heart of Downtown Disney.
Pat O’Briens – Want a taste of New Orleans while you’re in Orlando? Head over to Pat O’Briens to experience the home of the dueling pianos and the world-famous Hurricane specialty drink. Bonus: Explore CityWalk and take in the view of the rollercoasters surrounding you at Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios.
B.B. King’s Blues Club – Walking distance from the convention center is another New Orlean’s-inspired hot spot. With live blues bands and Memphis-style BBQ, you can definitely enjoy your dinner here.
In this city, the entertainment never ends.
CityArts Factory – Located in downtown Orlando, CityArts has a huge collection of art galleries from local and international artists. This is definitely a great area to browse and relax on your time away from the event.
Orlando Museum of Art – Stop by OMA while you’re in Orlando to see the exhibit on the Golden Age of Painting with pieces from Rembrandt, Rubens, and Gainsborough to name a few.
Blue Man Group – Combining art, technology, and music together, the Blue Man Group will put on a performance like you’ve never seen before. This is something you don’t want to miss!
Want to relax during Happy Hour after the event?
Eola Wine Company – Drink in or take home. Eola has over 70 wines and 30 craft beers, with great snacks as well. You can even purchase bottles to take back with you. Great spot for socializing after the event.
The Wine Room – Who would think that you could fill up a debit card and taste all the wine you could ever want? The Wine Room takes wine tasting a whole new level. Fill up your wine tasting card and use it to choose from 1oz, 2.5oz, or 5oz pour sizes of any wine they offer. Interested in trying something new? This is your spot!
CityWalk’s Rising Star – Another great stop in CityWalk is Rising Star. Have the urge to sing your heart out? Rising Star will welcome you with applause… and probably a full drink as well. Not only can you sing karaoke, but you’ll have a live band and backup singers to help you out! Just like everything else in Orlando, this goes above and beyond your normal karaoke bar.
ICEBAR Orlando and/or Minus5 Degree Ice Bar – If you haven’t seen or heard of this trend for ice bars, you have to check it out! Take a quick mental vacation to Russia and experience the coldest drink you’ve ever had. From the moment you walk in, you’re equipped with fur coats and all that is needed to keep you warm while you’re sipping on a cool drink. Both are great places to get out of that Florida heat.
The Courtesy – Craft cocktails are on the rise. It’s no longer about your standard G&T. Bartending has become an art form and it shows at The Courtesy. Interested in trying some experimental and interesting cocktails? Head over to their Happy Hour and see what concoctions they’ve dreamed up.
Improv Comedy Club – Need a good laugh? Grab a drink, relax, and laugh away your stress at the Improv on International Drive.
Check out some of the best local restaurants Orlando has to offer.
Keke’s Breakfast Cafe – Tired of that hotel continental breakfast? Get out one morning before heading to the event to grab breakfast at Keke’s. With multiple locations in the Orlando area, definitely stop to try the Pina Colada Stuffed French Toast or the Banana, Nut, and Caramel Waffle. Warning: you may need a nap after either of these though…
Amura Japanese Restaurant – Looking for your sushi fix while in Orlando? Head over to Amura, known for the best sushi in town.
Bloodhound Brew Pub & Eatery – Designed as a simple neighborhood restaurant, Bloodhound has an extremely friendly atmosphere with a large outdoor patio to enjoy the beautiful Florida sunshine. Want to catch the NBA Playoffs? Catch the games on one of their 30 HD tv’s.
Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville – It’s 5 o’clock somewhere. Another one located in CityWalk, Margaritaville is a great place to grab a refreshing margarita and great burger (Dare I say… cheeseburger in paradise). Enjoy, all you parrotheads!
Ceviche Tapas Bar and Restaurant – Located in downtown Orlando, this tapas bar was named #1 as Top Ten Restaurants in Orlando by USA Today. This is definitely a must if you love Spanish-influenced cuisine.
So check out all this great food, drinks, and fun and remember to come by and say hello to us at the SiriusDecisions 2014 Summit–transforming sales, marketing, and product.
